The greatest thing about my job as a portrait artist is that I get to share the most important times of peoples lives with them. It is even better when I get to share these times with people that I know personally. Here is a magical moment from one of our sessions today, cute little Miss Emree Brooke! She is already such a little lady, so sweet and delicate. She is the first child to a couple that we got to know when we photographed their wedding in June of 2008. As some of you know, our studio has fallen victim to the April showers (although "storms" is more accurate...) that have been rolling through town the last few weeks. From the lightning that took out our phones, our projector, and seemingly everything else that happened to be plugged in, to the heavy rains that flooded our basement, it has been a little crazy around here. We are very excited to say that things are finally coming back together, and our basement is better than ever! Today we tested it out with beautiful Ella Rae Jernigan. We were so glad to be able to meet this bright eyed 6-month-old, and to see her big sister, McKenzie, who has grown so much! Thank you Mom (LouAnn) and Dad (Darren) for sharing your precious girls with us!

We had so much fun this afternoon with this beautiful little girl! Imaging USA, Phoenix, Arizona, and Anne Geddes

I arrived home last night from a conference under Phoenix's desert sky. At over 500,000 square feet, Imaging USA ‘09 featured the largest, most vibrant photography EXPO in North America with the most tradeshow booths ever. Every year, I am always amazed to see all the latest products, essential tools and software at the cutting edge of technology. It is also fun to mingle with more than 8,600 industry professionals.

I also had a unique opportunity to have a meet and greet with Anne Geddes, one of my personal favorite photographers. What a gracious and dynamic woman! Her name alone brings recognition and admiration from pro photographers and those who aren't even in the industry. It's safe to say most people know her name (and/or her images that have become so iconic).

During the summer, we photographed Russ Lanier as Conrad Birdie, a character in the upcoming play at the Averitt Art Center. It was so much fun to see his transformation right before our eyes, and what a talent he truly is. And, as always, it is very exciting to see the finished product, the poster that is below. After what seems like an eternity, Baby Sloan has arrived! It is hard to believe that our Samantha (who worked for KCP for over 2 years while in college), is a Mommy!! It isn't very often that I am working "on call", so I was very excited yesterday evening when I got the phone call that Miss Merit was coming earlier than expected! (I guess we won't be photographing Olivia's maternity session tomorrow... Oops!) I hurried to meet her proud Daddy (Brandon), two big brothers (Atlas & Valor), and the rest of the family as they waited to see their new baby girl and her beautiful Mama, Olivia. They welcomed Merit Olivia O'Mahoney at 6:26 p.m. on September 8, 2008. She weighs 7 lbs. 0 oz. and is 21" in length. Congratulations Olivia and Brandon! Mother Nature...

This weekend Timmy and I went to the Nascar race in Bristol, TN. ...I know what you're thinking: Krisha at a Nascar race? But it's true. For the second year in a row we've been given tickets to enjoy the Bristol race in very nice, exclusive club seats--air conditioning, a smoked turkey leg... the works. But the 7-hour drive was actually worth it, we had a blast! We got home late last night, so I had not been by the studio yet when our neighbors downtown called this morning to let me know that a limb had attacked our air conditioner over the weekend.

...and so the outside heat is actually refreshingly cool for us today at the studio. We're calling it a day a little early and working from home with hopes of a cooler and breezy tomorrow!

I'm sorry I haven't been able to blog this week until now... we've been so busy, but it's been wonderful! In one of our sessions, we were so excited to welcome back six-month-old Rylie Ann. We can't believe how fast she has grown since the last session we had with her! She looks just like her Daddy (Les) but with her Mama's (Kelly) blue eyes! We can't wait to see you again in a few months!

I finally got to meet this baby boy today! After having graduated from high school with his Daddy (Greg) and photographing Emily (Mom) and Greg's wedding a few years back, I was so excited to get to see Jackson, this six-month-old wiggle worm. We had so much fun all trying to make him laugh (even Millie), but only Aunt Julia and Mom could really make him giggle like this! We can't wait to watch him grow... welcome to the KCP family!

When Stephanie and Brent (Mom and Dad) brought Brody in today, we all could not believe how much he has grown since our last session with him! He is already nine months old, and he is a grinning, giggling, handsome little man. Today he came dressed up and all ready for football season to begin... this year he is going to be Daddy's "Lil Dawg" and UGA's biggest fan!

At KCP, we are so blessed to work with so many wonderful people. We get to meet so many people that we may never have crossed paths with otherwise. Today, we met the sweetest family--the Byczkoski's. Adam and Christy have just welcomed Delaney into their lives. She was a perfect lady in her session today, I can't wait to watch her grow. Our last session of the day was with the May family. It was so much fun getting to know all five boys and the parents as well. They are celebrating the newest addition to their family, Mr. Nicholas. Now this is little one that has stolen my heart! He is so sweet, much like his older brothers! Jeff and Andrea must be very proud. All five boys (Jeffrey, Raybon, Austin, Joey, and Nicholas) are so beautiful and not to mention, well-behaved!! This session seemed so short because they were such great models. Hey! When you got it, you got it! Thank you, Andrea and Jeff for brightening our day and sharing your family with us for a little while. My job is so wonderful!

This weekend we had the privilege of photographing Ann & Scott's wedding, and we had so much fun! Everything from the tiny pearls on Ann's dress to the most elaborate wedding cakes I have ever seen made the day so perfect and absolutely beautiful! It seemed like all of Statesboro was there celebrating with Ann & Scott, and everyone had such a great time dancing, sipping wine, and watching the glowing bride with her handsome groom. Thank you Ann & Scott (and Mr. Charlie & Mrs. Susan Mathews) for sharing your day with us! Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Coleman!

Back to Reality...

Returning home from an exciting new place, there is always that refreshing feeling of truly coming "home", but at the same time, there is also the shock of coming back to reality (not to mention a different time zone!) This week, though, the shock has been a wonderful reminder of just how great my reality really is. Thanks to all of you, we have been busy this week photographing your beautiful families, and I am so thankful for these tiny glimpses into your lives! Hello from California!

I have been in San Francisco since Wednesday evening taking in all that the Bay has to offer and being inspired West Coast-style. Joy (with her beautiful baby girl Julia), Paula, Lindsay, Gena, and I are all professional photographers working in different parts of the country and have been planning this rendezvous in Paula's home city for months. The long-awaited trip is finally here, and I am having a blast catching up with great friends, seeing northern California for the first time, getting new ideas from other creative minds, and making work on the West Coast! (Thank you, Paula, you are simply the world's most wonderful host...)

Our last session today was with beautiful baby Zane. He is growing so fast! It seems like yesterday that I was photographing his Mama's pregnant belly, and now he is already a crawling, laughing bundle of smiles! Thank you Mom (April) and Dad (Joey) for letting us watch him grow with you!

Sneak peek...Little Gene!!!

You might never guess, from looking into the bright eyes and sweet smiles that you see captured on the faces of all of our wonderful children, that every session does not go smoothly. But yes, there are, in fact, moments both before and after those perfect ones when we aren't quite able to get every child to warm up to us, no matter how hard we try. Sometimes we even give Millie a hand at coaxing smiles and giggles from the little ones, but this morning, even Millie's charms didn't work on little Gene!

I have known his sweet Mama (Raushanah) since our cheerleading days in high school, and had the pleasure of photographing Willie and Raushanah's wedding not too many years ago, and today, even as Gene politely refused to smile for any of us, I loved being with their family... and especially with perfect little Gene--(half)smiles, pouts, and every moment in between!

My last session today was with this little one year old and his family. Jake is soo cute. His eyes are so striking. This was my first session with him, and like most one year olds, he was very mobile! His mom (Brandy), and dad (Danny) were such great sports, as they helped me and Kim chase Jake around and around. No wonder Brandy is in such great shape!!

Besides the fun stuff, this was a very special session for me. Danny serves in the U.S military and has just returned from Iraq and has not seen little Jake or his wife in over 8 months! I would like to personally thank Danny and Brandy for all of the sacrifices they have made for our great country. It was certainly my pleasure working with you both today. I can't wait to see you again!

This morning I had the pleasure of working with a sweet and perfect little baby girl named Addie. She might be the most perfect baby I have ever seen. Much like her parents, Johnny and Renee, Addie is beautiful! She must have enjoyed having her portraits made, because she cooperated the entire time. I just love Miss Addie, welcome to the KCP family!

This Saturday Krisha & I had the privilege of spending the evening with the cutest lovebirds in town! Through all the years I have known Courtney, I have never seen her more in love than she is now with Derick... and I've never seen a groom more in love with his stunningly beautiful bride. (Except, of course, at my own wedding, right?) Krisha & I both teared up a bit watching them see each other for the first time, and everyone couldn't help but grin as Derick dipped Courtney in his arms at the words, "You may now kiss the bride." Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Sharpe, and thank you for sharing your perfect evening with us!

Okay.....so we here at KCP are defintely in "wedding season". Love is in the air! We do several weddings each year, and we love every one of them! I think this past Saturday was the 6th straight! I love it! Anyway, this particular weekend was a very special one. My very dear friend, Joey Hendrix, married her sweetie pie, Alex Morris. My hubby Timmy and Alex are long time friends too. What a perfect couple....they are so made for each other. As I write this, they are basking in the sun on their honeymoon in Jamaica. Best wishes and Congratulations to you both...Timmy and I love you so much!!!

I am so glad to welcome Miss Gracie and her beautiful Mommie Alison (Allie) as clients! Many of you may know Allie from Kayce's Pet Parlor--she is Millie's personal hairdresser! We went to Riverstreet last week to do Allie's bridal portrait and I had SUCH a hard time because I did not want to stop photographing!! Here is one of our favorite clients....Miss Bella Grayce! We love her so much, she has been so much fun to photograph all year long! She is in our baby plan so we have had the pleasure of photographing Bella and her family since she was born. You probably even recognize her ....afterall she is on the website about a hundred times! We were so honored last month when OneGeorgia Authority called us with the news that KCP had been selected to photograph Governor Sonny Perdue while he was visiting Statesboro today. I must admit, I was a little nervous when I woke up this morning, but very quickly, he put me at ease. Thank you so much to everyone that made today such a success! What a week! Yikes, it has been crazy around here lately...not to mention hot!!! I have had sooo many sessions with all of you over the past weeks, I love it! Being busier than ever is a wonderful blessing for KCP, especially considering that the economy is not as we would like to see it. Thank you to all of my clients!

I just completed this maternity session a few minutes ago. What a way to end it the week!!! I am so lucky to have such beautiful clients! All I can say is "Wow!" A new baby is on the way, so KCP was chosen to capture this special moment in their lives. We had so much fun, I could not stop photographing them. Thank you Marcie (Mom), Jeremy (Dad), and Cade (my favorite) so much for coming in today, I can't wait to see you next week!
